Atari appoints Freewheelin' for its biggest launch of the year

LONDON - Atari has appointed youth specialist Freewheelin' Media to promote the launch of the games publisher's biggest title of the year.

Freewheelin', which was appointed by Atari UK marketing director Richard Orr, has been tasked with promoting forthcoming game 'Marc Ecko's Getting Up'.

The agency has produced an eight-page booklet and goodie-bag, which will be distributed to consumers across Europe via promotional teams on the street and events including the Mobo Awards on September 22.

"'Marc Ecko's Getting Up' is going to be this autumn's must-have game for young gamers, so we are extremely delighted to be working with Freewheelin' on such an exciting project," Orr said.

"Its expertise in this field, combined with its passion for creating great work, shows what a natural fit there is between Atari and Freewheelin'."

Freewheelin' hopes that the one-off project will lead to further work for the company.

'Marc Ecko's Getting Up' is being released in the UK in the second week of October. The game puts players in the shoes of a graffiti artist who must use stealth to gain access to locations around a futuristic city.

Freewheelin' is working in conjunction with Atari's other marketing agencies -- design agency Small Japanese Soldiers and Indigo Pearl PR. The agency's appointment comes off the back of some work the agency did for Atari late last year.
