Readers of The Metro, Evening Standard, Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday can subscribe to the news service, which sends text messages from journalists based in Iraq connected to Flytxt's web-based interface to post the messages.
It is the first time that the Associated Newspapers has rolled out a wireless service across more than one of its titles. Flytxt was appointed by Mediabase, the IT arm of Associated Newspapers.
The service, which is reverse-billed to subscribers at 25p per message, aims to enable readers to receive the content they are interested in and for the newspaper to deliver snippets of premium content outside of the usual reading hours.
Subscribers receive two to three messages each day with new updates.
