Ask Jeeves UK launches paid-for online ad offering

LONDON - Ask Jeeves UK has launched two new paid-for inclusion products designed to give greater control to website owners and to help generate leads for online advertisers targeting UK and Ireland audiences.

Site Submit and Index Express will guarantee a URL's inclusion into the Ask Jeeves search index giving advertisers exposure to almost 7m monthly users.

Site Submit is primarily designed to be used as a marketing tool for small businesses and webmasters. For a 拢40 annual subscription for the first URL and 拢25 for two-200 URLs, website owners will be able to submit their website to Ask Jeeves for guaranteed inclusion in the Teoma search index, which powers Ask Jeeves.

Ask Jeeves says the service guarantees inclusion within seven days and provides online reporting once the URL has been included in the index.

David Graham, head of business development at Ask Jeeves UK, said: "The key benefits of Site Submit are that, as a subscriber, smaller companies and webmasters now have greater control in determining exactly when their web pages will be added to the index and exactly what content they wish to display."

He added: "Furthermore, the online reporting functionality allows for greater accountability and success measurement. Ask Jeeves consistently rates as one the most popular search sites in the UK and 拢40 is a very cost-effective way for guaranteed access to our users."

Ask Jeeves says additional features and benefits of Site Submit include both improved quality of traffic for websites and optimised performance for websites.

The second service, Index Express, is aimed at large online retailers and e-commerce websites with greater depth of content and a larger quantity or URLs. Sold by approved resellers, URLs are submitted directly into the Ask Jeeves index via a Trusted Feeds program.

Ask Jeeves' resellers will develop and manage online campaigns on behalf of advertisers, ensuring maximum optimisation to drive qualified leads to any number of products and services within the advertiser's site. The fixed cost-per-click pricing model enables efficient campaign budgeting and online marketers can enlist and de-list URLs as required.

"Thousands of URLs can now be swiftly included into the Ask.co.uk search engine on either an individual campaign or on a more long-term basis to deliver highly targeted and measurable consumer traffic directly to a particular page advertising a particular product. The net effect is high conversion rates but low cost of customer acquisition," Graham said.
