The Advertising Standards Authority has selected BBC Secretary Christopher Graham as its next director general.
Graham, who will take over from the existing director general, Matti Alderson, on April 3, has been secretary of the BBC since 1996 where he has been working closely with BBC Chairman, Christopher Bland and John Birt.
Speaking of the appointment, Graham said: 鈥淚 am delighted and excited at the prospect of heading a well-established and respected body like the ASA. Self-regulation remains the best means of ensuring high standards in advertising and I intend to ensure that the system remains effective in a changing and challenging media world.鈥
