The former Hull City, Fulham and Ipswich player was previously a painting man at his father’s firm before entering the world of football in 1997.

Armstead is giving decorating companies the chance to sign Bullard on a one-day loan deal by tweeting the job that they would give to the I’m a Celebrity... contestant, as well as reasons why their firm would be the right choice.

Bullard will assess entries and sign a contract in mid-August, just before the England football transfer window closes. The brand is working with Mischief PR on the campaign.

Ewa Czapracka, Armstead marketing manager, said: "Armstead Trade paint is a no-nonsense professional trade paint that can deliver in a wide range of colours and finishes - it therefore shares many similarities to Jimmy's style on the pitch. We can't wait to get Jimmy signed up to his new team, albeit this time it'll be a team of decorators.

"We're sure that he'll give the winning decorating firm a huge boost. Hopefully they'll be impressed by his skills on the painting front, although I wouldn't be surprised if he also organises a kick about during a tea break and delivers as much banter as he does paint on the wall."

Bullard is also currently fronting .
