It is the first time the charity's outlets have sold a newly-releasaed single since Band Aid's ‘Do they know it's Christmas' in 1984. Proceeds from sales of the single will be donated to Oxfam.

Fans of the band will also have the opportunity to win tickets to see the band headline at Reading and Leeds festivals. Two singles will contain a winning code to be entered online.

Additionally, 40 signed copies of the single ‘Crying lightening' will be distributed throughout Oxfam's network of 700 outlets, with a further 15 sent out randomly to customers who order the single from the charity's online shop.

Arctic monkeys are calling on music fans to bring in any unwanted albums or singles to their local Oxfam shop when they pick up their copy of the single.

Oxfam sells about £6m of music every year.
