Appointment to View: Nissan spoofs the spoof

You can't believe everything you see in Nissan's latest effects-laden Qashqai campaign, created by TBWA\G1. A 'behind the scenes' clip of the ad in production proves no different.

Filmed in LA , the tongue-in-cheek 'making of' video focuses on the giant looping stunt sequence featured in the ad.

The ad uses CGI animation to create the effect of a car driving through various obstacles around the city, accompanied by animations by French illustrator Mc Bess.

In the making of film producer, Louis-Saint Calbre, says: "We've just built the largest stunt in the world. 250 metres high. The loop the loop of all loop the loops."

The stunt is set up to look real with a driver approaching the looping road to gasps from the production crew.

Of the original ad, TBWA\G1 European creative director Alasdhair Macgregor-Hastie said: "In the fifth part of the saga we wanted to push things further by literally smashing the conventions of auto advertising. So we created an urban obstacle course that blends graffiti car chases, slow-motion explosions, giant highway loops and more besides".

The soundtrack, a cover of "Human Fly" by The Cramps performed by Hanni El Khatib, also features in the original ad.
