Apple鈥檚 marketing chief resigns

Steve Wilhite, Apple Computer鈥檚 vice-president of marketing, has resigned.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - Steve Wilhite, Apple Computer鈥檚 vice-president of marketing, has resigned.

Wilhite, who reported to Apple鈥檚 chief executive Steve Jobs, was once described by Apple as 鈥渢he man singularly responsible for protecting and promoting the Apple brand鈥.

Before joining Apple in April 1999, Wilhite was at Volkswagen for nine years, where he led the launch of the new Beetle in 1998.

No reason has been given for his departure and no replacement has been found. Apple recently reported disappointing sales of its latest computer, the G4 Cube, and soon after, Apple鈥檚 vice-president of worldwide sales Mitch Manditch resigned.
