Apple and Jay Z in talks over Tidal acquisition

Apple is understood to be looking to buy Tidal, the music streaming site set up by Jay-Z.

The tech giant is interested in the product because of its links with high profile stars including Jay Z’s wife Beyonce, Kanye West, Rihanna and Madonna.

The two companies are believed to be in initial conversations and are not close to a sale, according to the . It added that Tidal denied the talks.

Jay Z launched Tidal last year, however a few months ago the rapper claimed that the previous owner of the service exaggerated its subscriber base to encourage him to invest in the platform. Tidal’s former owner insisted that Jay Z carried out "due diligence" before he made his investment.
