Apple devices help a blind drummer and nonverbal teen thrive in new spots

Siri and accessibility features take center stage in ads for Global Accessibility Awareness Day.

Apple released a bevy of new ads featuring customers making full use of Siri and iOS accessibility options for people with disabilities. Timed for Global Accessibility Awareness Day, each spot also comes in a version with audio descriptions for the visually impaired. Carlos Vasquez is blind but plays drums and manages public relations for the heavy metal band Distartica. Ian Mackay and his friend Todd Stabelfeldt use voice commands to control take photos and operate smart home features. And 15-year-old Meera uses her iPad to communicate the words her voice can’t.
