AOL Time Warner to launch rival to MTV

AOL Time Warner is said to be pressing ahead with plans to launch a cable TV music channel that will compete with Viacom鈥檚 established MTV and VH1 brands.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - AOL Time Warner is said to be pressing ahead with plans to launch a cable TV music channel that will compete with Viacom鈥檚 established MTV and VH1 brands.

The venture is expected to launch at the end of 2001 and it is thought that project is being driven by AOL Time Warner chief operating officer Bob Pittman.

Jamie Kellner, the recently installed CEO of the Turner Broadcasting division of AOL, is expected to oversee the project.
