AOL seeks marketers to boost broadband share

AOL is searching for a top brand marketer as it battles to increase its share of the burgeoning broadband market.

The ISP is looking for three marketing recruits. The most senior is a director of marketing, brand, who will develop strategic marketing initiatives around the AOL brand.

The successful candidate will report to Sharon Lang, AOL's vice-president of marketing, and will manage a team of eight, including the two new recruits.

He or she will also oversee the relationship with creative agency Grey London and media shop Vizeum UK.

The role will also be responsible for brokering partnerships with major brands. These will be used to cross-promote broadband services and content.

The strengthening of AOL's marketing department comes as it steps up its marketing activity to take advantage of the broadband price war. It plans to spend more than the £35m originally allocated to marketing this year.

Separately, AOL has struck a broadband marketing deal with Sky Sports to give members of its Gold and Platinum broadband services access to sports content.
