AOL ad industry interviews aim to inspire next generation of female leaders

AOL's global women's leadership platform Makers has launched #MakersBreakthrough, a series of interviews with leading women in the advertising and media industries aimed at helping younger women aspire to senior roles.

AOL said the initiative was intended to keep gender diversity at the top of the agenda and "ignite change in advertising by showcasing stories of women in the industry that have broken through the glass ceiling."

Makers, launched earlier this year, collaborated with Women in Advertising and Communications London at its Gather conference in May, interviewing ten Wacl members who discussed their personal experiences, including their biggest challenges and any motivational advice they had to offer to young, aspirational women.

They are:

  • Lindsey Clay, chief executive of Thinkbox

  • Rachel Bristow, director of client partnerships and collaboration at Sky

  • Jan Gooding, group brand director at Aviva

  • Natasha Murray, managing director at Havas Media UK (featured in video above)

  • Pippa Glucklich, UK chief executive at Starcom and President of WACL

  • Roisin Donnelly, former brand director (Northern Europe) at P&G

    • Ruth Mortimer, content director at Centaur Marketing

    • Sam Phillips, chief marketing officer at Omnicom Media Group UK

    • Karen Blackett, chairwoman at MediaCom UK

    • Victoria Fox, chief executive at Lida

    .

Glucklich said: "From a young age I’ve been passionate about women in advertising and the importance of female role models.

"I believe women should not have to face the same barriers as the generation before them and this is a fantastic way of ensuring real change is made within the industry."
