Publicis faces tough competition to hang on to the account as Wyeth has also shortlisted Grey London, Bartle Bogle Hegarty, DDB London and Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/ Y&R.
Grey London's place on the pitch list will come as a surprise to some. It held the Anadin account for two years, but saw it return to Publicis in 1999, with SmithKlineBeecham cited as a client conflict. Now known as GlaxoSmithKline, the business is still a client of the agency.
News of the review was first reported by Brand Republic in February, when reports emerged that Wyeth had contacted as many as 10 agencies.
The firm, which also owns the Centrum, BiSoDol and Preparation H brands, will see strategic presentations later this month followed by a final shortlist and a creative pitch in July.
Publicis won its first piece of Wyeth business in 1995 when the company, then known as Whitehall Laboratories, appointed it to work on Anadin, which it lost in 1997 to Grey but won back two years later.
In 1996, the agency won BiSoDol and went on to launch the a second painkiller brand in the UK, Advil. Anadin was shifted out of Publicis in 1997 to Grey but came back two years.
The review is to be overseen by the AAR and it follows the appointment of new managing director John Smith last year.
