AMV won Advertising Agency of the Year and its "spare the act" campaign for Currys PC World landed four golds and three silvers – more than any other single campaign in the awards’ history.

David Mitchell, one of the stars of Peep Show, hosted the ceremony at Battersea Evolution in London.

Outsider was named Production Company of the Year.

Rosie Arnold, the jury chairwoman, said: "After years of speculation about the demise of film, the signs are that it is not only alive and well but positively booming. The long-length Christmas extravaganzas have raised the bar for the whole year.

"We found ourselves laughing again and again. The talent and brains who have thought up, bought or crafted the work that won are the reason I still love this business."
