Alexandra Palace is to host the first Jazz FM Soul & Jazz at the Palace festival on 17-18 July this year. Event organiser the Guardian Media Group (GMG) is hoping to attract 20,000 people to the two-day event in north London. GMG will work with Harvey Goldsmith’s Artiste Management to produce the concerts, which will feature more than 20 acts. External caterers will provide gourmet food, including champagne and oysters. GMG Radio Enterprises head of events Simon Balme said Ally Pally was chosen because it provided the right environment and variety of space. Acts for the main stage and alternative stages in smaller rooms have still to be confirmed.
