Agency Republic names Andy Sandoz as top creative

LONDON - Agency Republic has ended its year-long search for a creative director by appointing Andy Sandoz, who recently joined the agency as its head of art, to the vacant role.

Sandoz joined Republic in August from Randommedia, where he was the creative director. Before that, he worked at the interactive TV channel Static 2358, as its head of channel design, working on gaming, broadcast and branding and launching PlayJam's iTV channel on Telewest, ntl and Sky in Europe and the US.

The creative director's role at Republic has been vacant since James Cooper left to join Dare in October 2004. Since then, it has bolstered its creative team, hiring Chris Baylis from Profero and glue London's award-winning creative team Gavin Rogers and Gemma Butler. Sandoz will head a team of 22 creatives and creative services staff.

Martin Brooks, the managing director of Republic, said: "We have been looking for someone to make the most of the talent in our department, not just someone to come in and be a figurehead. He's in it for the team and the agency, not for himself."
