Agencies line up for £5m Vision Express

Vision Express has called a review of its £5 million media planning and buying account.

The optician has contacted a number of agencies to set up meetings ahead of a pitch.

It is not known whether the incumbent on the account, Universal McCann, will repitch.

Last February, the company appointed Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy to handle the account after a final shoot-out against Publicis.

The optical retailer has just launched a new TV ad, which was created by MCBD and features the fashion expert and model Lisa Butcher. The ad shows Butcher in a white studio outlining what makes a good optician.

After listing a number of her criteria, the ad ends with the strapline: "Vision Express: what would you like to see?"

Vision Express is the third-largest optician in the UK with a 9 per cent market share and more than 220 stores.

The next largest is Dollond & Aitchison, which has a 12 per cent share, while Specsavers is the market leader with a 30 per cent share.
