Harvard Business Review heralded employee engagement as the London 2012 Olympics’ greatest feat. The Games’ highly motivated, yet unpaid, workforce was trained by McDonald’s and became one of its standout successes.

With employee wellbeing one of the first casualties of the recession, this reminder of the impact of employees who are appreciated and celebrated, and therefore care about what they are doing, was particularly timely.
