Aegis Group acquires Marvellous Mobile

LONDON - Marketing services network Aegis Group has signed an agreement to acquire mobile marketing company Marvellous Mobile.

Marvellous Mobile has 2.7 billion mobiles in use worldwide, of which 20% have 3G capabilities. It offers creative, design, build, hosting and measurement services, and has developed its own proprietary global technology platform known as MHub. It had gross assets of £800,000 as of the end of March 2007.

The company recently worked on a mobile site and launch marketing for the Peugeot 207, a mobile site and marketing support programme for Vodafone Enterprise, a ‘stop smoking' support plan for GSK's Niquitin and a mobile game and video site for Lucozade.

Marvellous has also collaborated over the past year with Isobar, the world's largest digital agency network and part of Aegis Group, to create the Sprite Yard, a mobile content platform and interactive community created for Coca Cola Company's Sprite brand.

Launched in China earlier this month and going live in the US in July, the platform allows customers to communicate, play games, share photos and organise events using any data or browser-enabled mobile device.

Aegis chief executive Robert Lerwill said he expects mobile to become a significant marketing medium in the near future.

Aegis Group, parent company to Aegis Media, which encompasses media agencies Vizeum and Carat, posted a near 11% increase in total revenue in the first quarter of 2007.
