The study shows that 14% of advertising and marketing firms plan to boost staff numbers before Christmas; 72% are expecting to maintain current staffing levels.

While the jobs boost in this sector shows signs of increasing optimism, other areas have today announced job cuts.

Johnson & Johnson plans to shed 8000 staff from its worldwide workforce of 120,000, while HSBC has said it will slash 1700 jobs in Britain over the next year. Associated British Foods has announced plans to cut 400 jobs.
