Adspend to rise in 2005 with web set for major boost

LONDON - Advertising expenditure is set to grow by 4.4% next year, with the internet sector earmarked for a major boost, according to latest figures released by the Advertising Association.

The body has predicted the growth in its annual Advertising Forecast after seeing total spend accelerate during the first half of this year.

According to the AA, all media sectors are forecast to record real growth, with internet advertising expected to be the single fastest growth medium.

It is estimated that internet advertising spend will increase by 30.3% next year, with growth in cinema spend set to rise by 8.2%, outdoor advertising by 6.9% and radio by 4.1%.

The forecast also predicts that press display advertising, which is expected to grow by 3.8% will outperform classified advertising, with an expected growth of 3.2%, for the first time since 1999.

The forecast was researched and complied by the World Advertising Research Centre.
