Adidas has won the accolade for "creative and innovative advertising" after its agencies won 34 Cannes Lions across all media during the last decade including 11 in the past year.
Erich Stamminger, Adidas president and CEO responsible for global marketing of the brand, will accept the award in Cannes on June 24 2006.
Stamminger said: "We're honoured that the organisers of the Cannes Lions Festival have chosen Adidas as Advertiser of the Year, the industry's most prestigious honour and a singular success for our brand.
"With our partners, TBWA\ and 180 Amsterdam, we continue to look for ways to push the creative boundary -- creating powerful new campaigns, which can connect with consumers both emotionally and personally."
Terry Savage, executive chairman of the festival, said: "We are delighted to honour Adidas in recognition of the brand's success at Cannes over the last few years.
"Their numerous awards are a testament to a client who truly understands the creative process and is passionate about creating great work".
The 53rd International Advertising Festival will be held in Cannes on June 18-24 2006.
