Adidas highlights plight facing oceans with community run

The sportswear brand is encouraging people to run around a one-mile closed road route in central London, starting and ending at St Paul's Cathedral.

The event is being staged in partnershp with Parley, a design company and environmental organisation that raises awareness on threats to the ocean environment.

Participants will have access to the course for one hour and can run as many or as little loops as they like,  recording their run on the Runtastic app. Every run tracked on the app as part of the Run for the Oceans community will be added to a global tally, with similar races taking place in other cities around the world.

Adidas has pledged to contribute $1m dollars to the Parley Ocean Plastic Programme for the first one million kilometres run. The event is taking place on 17 June.
