Adam & Eve/DDB opens in New York after Samsung win

Adam & Eve/DDB is launching in the US after winning Samsung's North American creative account, ±±¾©Èü³µpk10 understands.

The London agency is believed to be setting up an office in New York in order to service its new client.

Adam & Eve/DDB is understood to have won the creative brief for Samsung’s home and TV appliances in North America after a process that involved Cheil and Wieden & Kennedy New York; Publicis Worldwide New York also had talks with Samsung ahead of the pitch.

The shop already handles some work in the US, including digital activity for Mars’ pet brands. Some of its previous campaigns, including work for Diageo and Google, have also run in the US.

But this will be the first time the Omnicom-owned agency has its own presence in the US, rather than using the DDB network. It is known to be looking for property and is recruiting, with a target launch staff of about 30.

The agency has been unable to pitch on several reviews in the UK this year due to client conflict, making overseas expansion a better growth option.

In New York, it will be positioned as a more boutique offering to the main DDB agency. The intention could be to ape agencies such as Wieden & Kennedy, 72andSunny and Droga5 by creating a global micro-network.

Adam & Eve/DDB refused to comment on the story. Samsung had not responded as ±±¾©Èü³µpk10 went to press.

Adam & Eve/DDB has won ±±¾©Èü³µpk10’s Agency of the Year for the past two years. It was the most-awarded UK agency at Cannes Lions in June and its John Lewis work captured the IPA Effectiveness Awards Grand Prix earlier this month.
