Ad2One swoops on Universal McCann

Universal McCann's digital account director John Kimbell has left the agency to join ad network Ad2One as digital media director.

Kimbell will work across eight divisions, although his main role will be for the creative arm, Sugar. Kimbell was at Universal McCann for four years where he led the digital side of accounts including More Th>n, The Daily Telegraph and Virgin Atlantic.

He joins Ad2One at a time of major restructure and prolific hiring of staff at the ad network to deal with several new business areas.

It now has divisions dedicated to search marketing, broadband TV sales, ad-funded content, a food and drink network and two premium ad sales teams.

In May, Ad2One hired Jon Wildman, former sales head of Discovery Networks Europe's UK operation, to head Screen, its broadband TV sales division.

Ad2One followed this by hiring Matt Gee, the ex-head of digital at creative agency WCRS.

Gee was hired to head Sugar, for which Ad2One intends to continue hiring staff.

Ad2One has had a flurry of business wins recently, picking up some mobile work for Sony BMG and selling ads on business social network LinkedIn.

Ad2One confirmed that Kimbell will start next week. Kimbell was not available for comment
