Acclaim runs Orange camp

Orange tasked agency Acclaim with managing its fifth Partner Camp in Spain in October. The agency wrestled the annual event for code-writers and developers away from the George P Johnson (GPJ) Company in a June pitch and it is the first time that Acclaim has worked with the mobile network provider.

Orange tasked agency Acclaim with managing its fifth Partner Camp in Spain in October. The agency wrestled the annual event for code-writers and developers away from the George P Johnson (GPJ) Company in a June pitch and it is the first time that Acclaim has worked with the mobile network provider.

The event, which is designed to develop relationships between the code-writers and developers who help produce Orange applications, began life in 2004 as Code Camp under the management of GPJ.

鈥淚t was very much about Orange wanting to speak directly to its developers and code-writers,鈥 said Simon Hambley, managing director of Acclaim.

鈥淚t has evolved into Partner Camp, which now involves speaking to marketing departments and business people as well as developers and coders. We want to make sure Orange is everyone鈥檚 preferred choice of network.鈥

Approximately 450 guests attended the event, which took place from 22-25 October at the Valentine Sancti Petri Hotel & Spa near Cadiz. Acclaim gave Partner Camp a Moorish theme and centred it around a 鈥榤arketplace鈥 area where the keynote speech took place. The event鈥檚 participants were entered into an orienteering competition using camera phones for clue gathering. The three fastest teams received prizes from one of the event sponsors. The pictures were then shown at the end of the event during its highlights film.

Discussion sessions were interspersed with activities and networking events. These ranged from cocktails by the pool after the first full day鈥檚 activities, to a barbecue and cabaret on the final evening.

鈥淭he overall objective was to provide a space that would encourage discussion,鈥 said Acclaim client services director Nicky Curran.
