
Bacon replaces Casia Zajac, who held the position from 2008. Zajac is currently interim head of press and homepage at the British Council.
Bacon, who takes on the role from January, will report to ABTA chief executive Mark Tanzer. Her appointment completes the senior management restructure Tanzer has carried out at the association.
Bacon will leave her current position as head of communications at publisher Future. She has previously worked in senior communications roles for BP and Kimberly-Clark.
As part of the role, Bacon will be involved in the development of consumer-facing campaigns, such as the ad campaign launched in May in the wake of the volcanic ash crisis, .
