News of the initiative was aired on the Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show on Absolute Radio this week, with the DJ promising to play all popular nominations, regardless of genres.

On a dedicated site www.absoluteradio.co.uk/songofthedecade,  listeners can hear suggested songs of the decade from Snow Patrol, Keane and The Ting Tings to help inspire them to make their own choices from the top airplay and sales lists from 2000 to 2009.

There will be a dedicated page on Spotify for the campaign and Absolute Radio branded ads will also promote the activity.

The campaign will be supported by ads on both Absolute Radio and Spotify and the final promotional package for the campaign will be determined by discussions between Spotify, Absolute Radio and a sponsor that has yet to be found.

The campaign follows Absolute Radio's "(500) Days of Summer" campaign, which runs across Absolute Radio, Spotify and Shortlist magazine until the end of the year.
