ABC FIGURES: Kerrang! in rapid rise

The nu-metal rock music craze triggered a stunning result from Emap

Performance's Kerrang! - up 46.6% in the period and 63.5 % year on

year.

Kerrang! is now the top-selling rock weekly, overtaking NME, which

celebrates its 50th birthday this year. Tim Schoonmaker, chief executive

of Emap Performance, said Kerrang!'s growth had been assisted by the

launch of a digital TV channel strand in June that introduced the brand

to a new, younger audience.

Emap was further buoyed by the growth of its rock monthly, Mojo, up

11.2% in the period.

The demise of club culture was reflected in big year-on-year falls for

all the dance music titles, although Ministry achieved a 10.3% increase

in the period by expanding overseas.
