Abbott quits Emap for Popworld mag

Gyles Abbott, ad director of Emap's motoring and golf titles, has left the company after just three months in the role to join contract magazine publisher Brooklands Group as it prepares to launch a magazine based on Channel 4 music show Popworld.

Brooklands has registered the name Popworld Pulp for the title, which will launch next year. Abbott will be the magazine's publisher.
The company specialises in monthly magazines based on C4 shows such as Supernanny and Location, Location, Location, published in association with the programmes' production companies.
Its next launch, due this autumn, is based on the show 10 Years Younger.
Abbott became group ad director for Emap Automotive and Active when the group restructured the divisions in May.
He was previously ad director on Zoo, but was moved when Emap brought together the advertising teams on Zoo, FHM and Arena under former FHM ad director Ollie Chadwick.
Emap has promoted Andrew Turner, who worked under Abbott, to take over his role.
