Abbey and mOne part company half-way through £8m contract

LONDON - Abbey is considering appointing a new digital media agency after ending its contract with WPP Group's digital media agency mOne.

The account is worth £8m and provides digital media and search activity for the Abbey brand as well as Cahoot, the online bank.

The bank said that it had ended its contract by mutual agreement. The decision comes three months after Abbey switched its £26m media account out of MindShare into Carat, and the online account had been expected to follow.

Jeremy Davies, director of Abbey's brand and communications, said: "We have worked very well with mOne over the past few years and we'd like to thank mOne for its input in developing our digital communications strategy".

Abbey has not appointed a replacement agency as yet. A spokeswoman for the bank added: "It [mOne] has given us a good platform for our digital media and search activity but we want a period to reflect on how to take it forward."

The agency won a pitch for a 12-month contract last July.
